Shelia is a native Detroiter, educated in the Detroit Public school system. Shelia retired from Ford Motor Company. In 2002 she received her BA in General Studies from Madonna University. 

Shelia’s vast work experience, from the Business and Medical office settings to an industrial work environment, has prepared her to volunteer in many different capacities. Currently, Shelia volunteers for Michigan Liberation, a non-profit criminal and legal reform organization. Since being apart MI Liberation, she has served in the following positions: Phone Banker, In-take person for the Annual Black Mother’s Day Bail Out Program, Bail program, participated in the weekly Community Engagement Listening Sessions, Community Outreach-researching and sharing resource information with the Detroit area communities during the Flood crisis of 2021, and the 2020 Election Campaign. Also, for 62 years Shelia has been a dedicated member of New Liberty Baptist Church in Detroit, where she serves & volunteers as the Church Clerk. In addition, she participates in several ministries within her church.  Previously Shelia volunteered with the Literacy Program of Detroit, and the Detroit Area Agency on Aging.
