RegisterHer Fellow Program


Wisdom Institute’s Everyone Counts Detroit Coalition (EOC) is a partnership of community-based organizers–individuals, organizations, and neighborhood businesses in Detroit’s Districts 1,2 and 6. In 2024 EOC will engage and enroll womxnists for enfranchised power using engagement tactics that include phone banking, text banking, canvassing and tabling at community events to elevate the engagement of women in ministry and spirituality and artists-healer activists in policy, civic and voter education, and voter protection activism at the intersections of birthing rights, reproductive justice, water affordability, and the enactment of sustainable plans to end water shutoffs and evictions in Detroit.

Voter Registration Program is an initiative designed to facilitate the process of registering eligible citizens to vote.  WI’s outreach efforts include informing people about voter registration requirements, providing assistance with filling our registration forms and ensuring individuals are aware of their voting rights and options.

Register Her Fellowship is a partnership between Wisdom Institute and RegisterHer to help center women voters for the purpose of creating and supporting female organizers to engage in women-focused voter engagement and activation. 

  • Conduct voter outreach including voter registration, pledging individuals to vote, assisting with, voter education, and other get out the vote initiatives in a responsible and reliable manner with an emphasis on women
  •  Attend scheduled training and meetings, arrive on time to scheduled shifts and sites, communicate regularly with managers, and strive to meet daily, weekly, and monthly goals for voter registration and engagement 
  • Complete any reporting needed for quality control and data tracking  
  • Responsible for correct handling and management of voter engagement materials and forms in line with our compliance practices and training 
  • Provide accurate information about voting and elections through tabling, events, and other direct voter contact methods
  • Complete a “Getting to Know You” questionnaire and provide a selfie to Register Her.

Fellows consent to share a profile about themselves on Register Her and Radical

Registrars’ social media, emails, and/or website. Last names will be omitted for

privacy.

  • Wear Wisdom Institute and Register Her apparel (baseball cap or visor) during their designated outreach time engaging women voters.
  • Attend occasional (approximately every 4-6 weeks) remote National Fellowship

Cohort meetings to discuss best practices, talking points, share experiences, build

leadership.

  • Submit a minimum of 1 photo (or short video) per month from the field of yourself

alone or registering/speaking to a woman about voting (with the consent of the

person(s) in the photo / video).

**Must be able to work weekends, afternoons and evenings. 

The ideal candidate:

  • Passionate about women having access and participating in our democracy
  • Strong communication skills; you should have an attitude of excitement when working with other people and a willingness to approach people you do not know with the intent to inform and support them by registering to vote. 
  • Self motivated and works to engage as many people as possible
  • Welcomes new challenges and are interested in building their skills and expanding their knowledge of voting laws and processes

Compensation:

Position Status: Hourly, Temporary (through 2024 elections) 

Compensation $16.50/hr (4 hours per week minimum, 8hrs max) + $200.00 per month
