Passing the Torch Preserving the Flame is a 3-year project dedicated to claiming the Call and Witness to revolutionary love, healing and gender justice as practice, visually communicated art and ritual in order to actualize water affordability in Detroit and enfranchise power. This year we are hosting a powerful womanist celebration and ritual honoring unsung sheroes who are revered in the community to embrace their eldership and pass the torch to younger women committed to carrying the flame of quantum leaping and endless energy for liberation in the intersectionality of their lives. The women who pass the torch will form a Wise Womxn Council for the perpetuity of gender justice. These seasoned grass root women leaders will assure that women’s voices are heard at the vital nexus of women’s dignity. PTPF is the practice of grooming multigenerational power. Torch bearers will pass their torch of activism to a younger wise woman whom we call their Flame Preserver.
