Jewel Farmer, Intern and mentee. Jewel Farmer born and raised in Detroit Michigan is a senior  and valedictorian at Northwestern High School where she has managed to maintain straight A’s throughout her entire high school years. She currently works as an intern for Wisdom Institute through a program sponsored by Urban Alliance. Jewel has participated in the TRIO Upward Bound and JROTC programs for 3 years. While taking part in these programs she has strengthened community outreach in and outside of school. Some of her hobbies include baking, painting and listening to music. Her favorite genre of music is R&B and her personal interest is in culinary arts, mainly the aspects of baking and pastry. Jewel loves to make people smile with different sweets. She is often prided on her optimistic and caring personality and has identified her best skills as time management, problem solving, detail oriented and an effective communicator. Jewel is excited about the opportunity to work with the Wisdom Institute. She believes that this experience will help her to encourage more of her peers about the importance of voting and educate them about Black women and girl issues and initiatives that we care about.
